The European
Waste Catalogue (EWC), a supplement to the
Landfill Directive, is a series of classification
codes designed to identify waste streams and
the processes from which they originated.
They
are required on special waste consignment
notes and give the Environment Agency information
on the types and sources of waste being produced
in the UK .
